This is my first crochet pattern I have written so please bear with me.
This is for the bacon and eggs scarf I just made over the last few days.
I used a dark russet red heart brand yarn and a buff red heart brand yarn.

Stupid Mc Stupid Face.
Ever feel like one of those days ?
Yeah . Sometimes I have "one of those WEEKS" lol.
Kind of been that way lately.
I've managed to try and bury my pain in work but its hard.
I just keep telling myself "one more stitch or row" and keep my "ufo" (unfinished objects) baskets of sewing and crochet half full.
Keep rolling along.
If your having one of those weeks or days.. or months. Here. You can share this with your friends like I did . Hopefully get a laugh or two.
Enjoy your day peeps! <3 ~ Mama kat

Recovering Baby Products Cute AND Saving Money
This is not my carseat. However I DID recover mine too.
Once I dig up the photo I will share it with ya'll.
That said I found this picture while pinteresting today. I know how hard it is to save money while shopping for babies. I had four of them so I know its a strain on the budget especially when they require so many things at once.
I picked up my 5 year old's high back booster at a yard sale for $5. She was cleaning out her garage. It was not expired and in great condition. The cover was not so great condition. Did I mention it was a Britax? Yeah. It was. Pretty awesome huh ?
I recovered mine in owl print.
You can check out her blog HERE and check out the various tutorials posted regarding how to recover your resale / garage sale shopping finds for babies.
Hope this helped someone save a little money today :) ~ Mama Kat

Pageants on the Cheap. Is it possible Or no ?
After talking with a few other moms about how we each save money in order to enter our children into pageants I've decided to blog about it.
Pageants on the cheap that is.
To clarify something , pageantry is NOT cheap. In any way. There are a lot of aspects to consider while entering a child in pageants. First you must choose the kind of system you want to go with. Natural, Semi Glitz or Glitz.
Natural starting out is the way to go in my opinion. You can start out with a simple sunday dress and enter a local natural pageant for less than $50. Most of the local preliminary pageants start at $40 and go up to $100 or maybe more depending on how many titles are being offered at that particular pageant.
We compete at the Natural AND Semi Glitz Level. My daughter Valarie did pageants until she was 6 years old. She retired at that point because she wanted to stop. However last year she showed interest once again to compete. Being on a budget my family doesn't exactly have a spare $100 laying around to enter pageants so we fund raise money for her to enter each one. Sometimes I can pick up the small amount left due mostly I rely on sponserships to pay her way to enter the supreme package(s). We have had some wonderful sponsers in the past who have bought craftables we have sold or purchased as space for the pageant.
When we started out last year I would rely on paying a hair and makeup artist $25+ for hair and makeup for the event. Valarie has very fine hair and we do not use a fall or wiglet of any sort. Not yet anyway. Her hair is a mixture of colors that is hard to match and we are currently on the lookout for a cascade (long fall that is precurled hair that you clip into blend with the rest of the natural hair) to use for a state level pageant she will be attending in March 2013. I was apprehensive about doing her hair and makeup on my own however pinterest is a wonderful site with MANY tutorials and I have found some there that I use for her pageant hair and makeup. She has done fine (even 2 supremes) with me doing her hair and makeup.
I create a majority of her clothing. I basically make everything she wears excluding the gowns or beauty dresses. I am starting to experiment a little with making one for her however at the moment she has a fabulous long beaded and tulle gown for Semi Glitz Beauty. We have a few off the rack dressy cocktail length retro look dresses for "face" wear. I'm going to start this off in installments of sorts I think. This week I am experimenting with making my first cupcake skirt. The cupcake skirt is a classic pageant skirt. They are constructed in layers, usually in an organza type fabric. You will need the body organza has to help it "fluff". The ruffle strips are cut on the bias of the fabric and usally hemmed with a roll hem, stretching the edge as you hem. The ruffles will have the curl effect if you insert a heavy fishing line in the roll of the hem while you hem. Usually you start with a circle base skirt out of like a cotton fabric. The first ruffle you attach will be narrower than the other ruffles and forms the bottom to help it stick out. Graduate the layers as you go up and then graduate them back down for as you go up to the waist. The longest layer should be the length you want the finished skirt to be. If you want a skirt, say 10" finished length, the first ruffle from the bottom up will be like 6", then a layer of 8" and then the 10" ruffle, then go back to the 8" above the 10" and then the 6" above that finishing at the waistline. Usually elastic is put in the waist. I have created a 10 layer with small variances to the lengths (I want mine to stack so to speak) bright blue organza skirt with a super stretch elastic waistband. I am currently using the following tutorial on youtube to add fish line in the hem for the curl ~ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C3SKkQah88Q I am making mine in a 0-3 month size for the 2 month old Baby Kaydence my niece who lives with me. Ill post pictures once I have it finished and you can see how it went for me.
Ill start posting installments on the blog here about how I style Valaries hair, do her makeup , what tutorials I use for any of our pageantry things as well as things I create and tutorials on how you can make them yourself. Just one pageant mom looking to help out another. My daughter does this for fun. Not to say we aren't competitive but she does enjoy pageants. She is not forced ,she does not have any fancy coaching or routines. Shes simply her. Thats the way it will be unless she chooses to do more. P.S. New places, New faces, New things to do
New places for us! We recently moved to a home a /little/ outside of town. Larger home. More room for the expanding family it seems. My niece Kellie and her little girl are here until she starts her own classes and gets into her own place at the end of the year.
Been working hard on getting things set up around here.
After settling in Valarie brought home her first supreme win ~!
She is excited about getting more sponserships and continuing pageants. We really need to make sure she practices every day.
You may see my blog take a different turn. Yeah I talk alot here, but now I am going to put my "marketing" skillz to work and make sure its fun to read. Not alot of words. MORE PICTURES lol
I will be sharing things I find on pinterest. I will be sharing pageant things for other pageant moms. I don't get the competition there. I do understand I want my daughter to do the best she can possibly do, however, its her thing. Im excited she wants to do this but I don't have any problem sharing our /secrets/ for whatever we make or do to help her in her pageant journey.
That said ~ We are pleased to be back. PLO has taken on a partner and an employee. We are beginning to work hard for the holiday season.

New places ALLLLLLLL around
Worked on my new banner and all that jazz .I now have a new banner to upload to the blog along with a new facebook timeline cover.
I also have been working frantically on items for wholesale for local shops as well as items for a pageant mom or two.
This month is complete chaos for me so I have taken the PLO FB page and put it on hold as well as did some moving of the website around.
I have ditched my paying site ,simply because I need to save that $. Yes that $13 a month can get one of my kids hair cut or something.
SO now Im using Weebly. Which I find to be pretty easy to format.
I start painting this week. Hopefully tomorrow. I have to get my car first. I m going to pick up another car this evening I hope. then I can load my painting supplies up tomorrow and go paint before it starts raining here in Tx.
They are saying a 20% chance. *shrug* who knows. I planned on having a massive garage sale to get rid of alot of clutter this weekend. so if it rains, FAIL sale :(
Just a small update on what we are doing.
Thanks for sticking around!
