Recycled Braided Belt Into Bracelet & Headband(s) Tutorial

Quick tutorial today to share~

Recycled Braided Belts that were thrifted into some Headbands and bracelets!

Gather your supplies~ Hot glue gun, scissors, belts, (I thought about using the frog enclosure but it got lost in the fray somehow),headbands (the stretchy elastic kind)

Lay your belt flat.

Cut off the buckle ~

I ended up with 3 long pieces about 14" long each. I ended up trimming said pieces before adding them to my headbands.

For bracelets take the buckle piece you cut off and open the "end" that was cut.It should be a little leather area that the belt is sewn into by the buckle. Your basically reattaching a smaller "belt" now.

Glue cut end of small "belt" into the piece. (The other end of the belt should be the pointed finished end that you would thread into the loop if you were wearing it)

Wear it :)

For headbands~ Lay your braided cut piece flat right side down. Add a line of hot glue as you go~

Add Elastic headband to it.

Leave enough elastic to actually STRETCH on your headband. Dont be a doofus like me and have your first one be infant sized >< LOL I had to redo it.Cutting more of the belt off. ugh.

Take alot of pictures :) And your done.
I have to get some modeled pictures of the headbands. I may throw some of them in the etsy shop.

Enjoy our 11 pm tutorial ~ Mama kat

  2. I think my nephew would love this. May have to try it. Wonder if you can just use a regular leather (unbraided) belt?

  3. As long as the buckle holes are there I would think you could :)
