Quickie Tutorial on creating Spikes for your boutique Hairbows

This is a quickie tutorial about how to make spikes to back your boutique hairbow's or you can add a center and let them be all by themselves.

If you read my blog you know by now I am a Texan girl. I have 3 Texan princesses in my home.
Here in Texas we love our trucks big, our rhinestones big and blingy , our hair big and our hairbows even bigger. Trust me on this. My girls wear bows from 2" to 7" and they rock them all out.
It's not crazy if your out to eating with the family and you see cute lil' baby girls wearing bows that are bigger than their small heads. We LOVE our big style here in Texas.

So I have been busy creating some custom order work to get out the door. Working on launching our website within the next week. Getting ready for a photo shoot this saturday with our photography Elizabeth is taking our site cover photos and I am also cranking out some hairbow's to stock too.

Between all that and feeling sickly I haven't had much time to blog and I do apologize for that.

On to the tutorial.

Gather up 2 or 3 different ribbon prints or solids you are using to make your bow.
Cut them to the size you need. I am making 5" spikes in this tutorial so I will be using my size in the descriptions.
Cut your 6 ribbons to 5" in length.

Stack your ribbons up on top of each other. I have a stack of 6.

Fold your ribbons stack in half so you can find the center :)

Add a stitch in the middle of the ribbon. Go through all the ribbon. Make a little x right in the center to hold all your ribbon together.

Take your ends of the ribbon on each side and fold.(You have to do this with each ribbon end)

clip the edge

Make it pretty :)

Make them all pretty :)

Start spreading your spikes out~

Spread them all out so they fan out.

Pinch the center all together. Make sure your creases look okay so the fanning out on each side isnt all funky.

Sew through the center creases ,your gonna have to really push that needled through.

THEN Wrap your thread around the center about 5 times and tie off.

Make sure its all pretty and even on each side. Theres your spikes.

Hope you enjoyed our quickie tutorial today. Maybe this well help a few of ya'll out there.
